ClearMacPrivacy policy
Effective 29 September 2026
Short version: ClearMac looks at your files only on your Mac. It has no account, no analytics and no advertising. It connects to two places, for a license check and for updates, and offline mode turns both off.
Who we are
ClearMac is made by Ajay Kumar, an independent developer in India (“we” in this policy). Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we are the data fiduciary for the personal data described here. Purchases are sold and processed by Dodo Payments, our reseller and Merchant of Record. Questions about privacy: hello@navior.tech.
What stays on your Mac
To find what uses space, ClearMac reads file and folder names, sizes, dates and locations on your Mac. Some features, such as finding duplicates, read file contents to compare them. All of this happens on your Mac. None of it is sent to us or anyone else.
ClearMac keeps a history of the cleanups you run (item names, sizes and what was freed), your settings, and your license details, on your Mac only. Removing ClearMac and its settings removes them.
Apple Intelligence
On Macs with Apple Intelligence turned on, ClearMac can use Apple's on-device language model to explain items and answer questions. It gives the model names, sizes, dates and file types, never file contents. The model runs on your Mac; ClearMac doesn't use any cloud AI service. You can turn it off in ClearMac ▸ Settings.

Like any web request, these connections also reveal your IP address to the service you connect to. Dodo Payments' and GitHub's own privacy policies cover what they do with it.
Offline mode (ClearMac ▸ Settings) turns off both connections. Pro keeps working for 30 days without a license check.
ClearMac makes no other connections. It has no analytics, no crash reporting service and no advertising.
When you buy Pro
Checkout happens on Dodo Payments' website, not in ClearMac. Dodo Payments collects your name, email address, billing country and payment details to process the payment, calculate tax and send your license key. We receive your name, email address, country and order details from Dodo Payments, and use them to provide your license, support and refunds, and to keep the records the law requires. We never see your full card details.
When you email us
If you write to us, we keep your email and our reply to help you. Please don't send files or file paths you'd rather keep private; we never need them.
ClearMac's Help ▸ Send Feedback… opens a new email in your own mail app, already filled in with ClearMac's version, your macOS version and your Mac's model, so we can reproduce problems. Nothing is sent until you send it, and you can delete any of it first.
If you ask to hear when ClearMac is ready to download, we keep your email address for that one message and delete it afterwards.
This website
This website uses no cookies and no analytics. It's hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security and operations.
Sharing
We don't sell or rent personal data. We share it only with Dodo Payments to process purchases, with service providers who help us run the business (email and website hosting) under confidentiality terms, or when the law requires it. Some of these providers process data outside India, as the law allows.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires (generally 6 to 8 years). Support emails are deleted when they're no longer needed to help you, and at most 2 years after our last message.
Your rights
You can ask us for a summary of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct, complete or delete it, withdraw your consent, or name someone to act for you if you can't. Email hello@navior.tech. We'll reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live, for example in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you may have further rights.
Grievances
Our grievance officer is Ajay Kumar, at hello@navior.tech. We'll acknowledge a complaint within 7 days and resolve it within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India, or to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
ClearMac isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian should buy Pro for you.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above. If ClearMac ever starts making a new kind of connection, this page and the app's Settings will say so first.
